Ossan ~A tale of ageless love~

The day I write a Visual Novel, this could pretty well be the title of it. For now, it is just the title of an elaborate entry.

Rude term for middle-aged man



It looks like it's been ages already: The time I began playing otome games.
I would look everywhere for strategy guides and reviews, and inevitably so, the one who looks too far into something often finds some unwanted things along the way. It was like a trend among all the places I looked up - between all the reviews and different sources, every single one of them did NOT appreciate ossan characters in an otome game.

Last month, the day I came by the idea to create this blog, I had read a review with such an opinion.
Also last night, once again. Different review, same opinion.

And so this post was born.
It is but an opinion, like various out there.
Like how hard it is to spill out the words for confessing an unrequited love.

Once upon a time...
...There was a young female teenager who watched too much TV. Between her favorite shows were, of course, anime.
That morning, she saw an ossan - she was mesmerized by him; she found him so pretty, taller than the regular younger characters; she found him so wise, as being an experienced and fully-bloomed adult, he had lived that many years before the younger characters; and she also found him to be extremely caring for the characters he loved the most, because he was nothing less than the father of said anime's protagonist, and likewise, he already had a wife.
So envious, she always felt.
It was only years later though, she noticed it was always recurring - liking an older character among numerous casts - she now became aware of what she liked the most, the one thing she wanted the most in such a short life span: She wanted to marry someone much older than her, someone like these characters she grew to love so much.

I found out I loved ossan.
To this day, no one was able to convince me otherwise.

So you, fellow otome who doesn't appreciate ossans in your games..... give them to me, all of them =3

One day, I will write a Visual Novel. The only characters the heroine will be allowed to have an ending with will be the middle-aged ones.
The hardest part - the title - is done already~
