During the past years, anime has been the medium which hooks me the most, be into the related manga, visual novels or drama CDs.
As someone who never had any contact with Diabolik Lovers before, I admit being somewhat anxious to watch the anime version, because this series has spawned so many drama CDs I don't feel like listening to it all, so the anime might be a faster way to get hold of the story and characters... I just didn't expect it to be that fast.
Really liked this episode-marker screen! |
I mean, come on, a regular episode is already short enough running around the 24-minute-mark, but Diabolik Lovers is only 14-minute-long. It only leaves me wondering if 12 episodes are going to be enough for a plot to be told.
What people said was true after all... They sure look at the protagonist like she's worse than shit~ |
Anyway, a girl called Yui, the protagonist, is dropped off all-alone into some mansion which looks abandoned, but it is actually haunted by a group of vampires who apparently live there doing nothing all day (at least this premise is better than your regular school-based anime).
Such group is made of 6 young-looking vampires, among them being the "sekuhara guy" (Ayato, voiced by Midorikawa Hikaru), the "mendokusai guy" (Subaru, Kondo Takashi), the "illiterate fashionable guy" (Raito, Hirakawa Daisuke), the "fragile-looking jailbait kid" (Kanato, Kaji Yuki), the "polite megane guy" (Reiji, Konishi Katsuyuki) and the "sleepy quiet guy" (Shu, Toriumi Kousuke).
Reiji is so sharp, too bad he looks like being a big passive... |
With a bunch of weirdos around, Yui thinks she got into the wrong house, however, they explain to her she's in the right place and she is some kind of offering for them.
When the protagonist tries to run, she injures herself, and the vampires immediately smell the blood from her injury, giving her creepy looks - when she tries to defend by showing a cross, they say it won't work on them because such things are all lies, so she ran again.
Eventually, Yui finds a room full of jewels and books, among them a diary of her father - a priest who raised her on his own, so because her father was once there, now she has the definite proof she is in the place she were meant to be, however, she is soon surrounded by the group of vampires...
And then it ends abruptly!! щ(ºロºщ)

IS THAT A PRIEST ROBE?! YES, IT IS A PRIEST!! I'm sold. |
Typical "meet the cast" first episode, I know, but I somehow expected it to be more dense than this.
Should keep watching for Konishi and random priest inserts.
